Making: Art Show and Opening, oh my!

I have a piece in a local art show with an opening this Saturday!
The McGroarty Arts Center here in Tujunga is having an art show and art fair later this month. The theme of the art show is “Bite Me” and it’s a food themed show if you hadn’t figured it out yet. I’m showing a piece that is a serigraph screen print on brass. It’s always fun to make the screen prints on metal and great to share them with an audience. It is a tricky process because the ink can often resist the metal in a unwanted way. The translucent or opaque effects of the ink are also very different than on regular paper, you can see the piece I’ll have up below.
I participated in the winter art sale at McGroarty this past winter and I really enjoyed the experience. The people are great, it’s close to home and it’s a beautiful place nestled here in the hills. Come check out the show if you’re in the area!
Exhibition Opening: Saturday, March 9, 5:00pm-9:00pm
Exhibition Dates: March 11-23, Mon-Sat., 10:00am-6:00pm CLOSED SUNDAY

“The Art Exhibition is a chance to bring your friends and family to enjoy the delicious food- inspired works from local artists. Come to the Opening Reception and meet and greet the curator, the artists, and everyone who makes this fundraiser possible. This exhibition favors two dimensional works such as paintings, photographs and fiber art and centered around the theme of food!”
