I bought the buckle at an estate sale for $5 it’s from the 70’s and part of that whole let’s lie about how old our belt buckles are by publishing fake books about them thing. Ah, the days before the internet must have been so exciting! Even though the buckle is only 30+ years old it’s still the cats meow. It needed a belt to wear it on since the part that goes on the belt is extra wide- about 2+inches. I cut the leather, drafted the pattern, traced the pattern, cut the pattern, did all the tooling and dying and took pictures along the way.
This is the 8th? maybe belt that I’ve made and while I did make one tiny tooling mistake I’m still over the moon with the way it turned out. I love, love the extra big pattern that holds against the huge buckle and is only repeated 3 times across the belt. I really wanted it to stand out against clothes so I kept it natural color and it will age up and darken a bit with time.
