Making: Show new and a new print

If you’re in the Highland Park area on Saturday please come check out my Limited Edition Handmade Screen Prints at the beautiful Cafe de Leche. I’ll be hanging a framed selection of new and old work -including a few brand new pieces.

This Saturday is the North East Los Angeles Art Walk.
The cafe will be open and the neighborhood will be buzzing.

I’ll be showing a brand new print! 8 layers, 20″ x 20″!

For a little look into my process here’s a jpg of the graphic file I made with all the layers made into separations in order to screen print. 8 colors including one layer with glitter!2009-304-miriamdemaHere’s the final print again. Whoa, not to bad. Getting all the colors right and printing all the layers correctly is the trickiest part of screen printing. Theres always gonna be little bits and pieces that turn out a bit different but this one is pretty on target! I choose to off set the background layer a bit to create more of that feel of weathered and aged texture. The fun part about screen printing is that you can make those sort of decisions throughout the process which makes it a bit more fun that just pressing print.
