Making: 2010 Calendar

2010 Calendars, I’ve been hard at work and here’s how they turned out!  It was a lot of hard work to print them. I got to print them on the Automatic press at Pasadena City College during my class I’ve been taking.
2009-297-miriamdemaHere’s what the machine looks like. It’s big! It has a lot of buttons, a lot of adjustments and a lot of ways to mess things up. Big props to Erika the lab tech to doing most of the adjustments, helping me maintain quality and racking as I loaded the paper. Man did I ever need a cocktail after all that printing!

2009-298-miriamdemaHere’s a pic of the paper all loaded up and waiting for that ink to be flooded and printed onto the paper. Here’s the black layer layer being printed.

There are a few more pics on my flickr, feel free to check them out. Today I’ll staple the month pages and then they’ll be all ready to go out into the world!

Wow, super cool process photos, that’s awesome that you have access to a Saturn. I’ve never had a chance to use an autmatic press, but it looks pretty intense. Great work!

it is intense! it was a great opportunity but unless i’m doing more than 200 of something printing by hand is just as easy.
