Making: New print and show

Since I know you’re all waiting eagerly for pictures of the billboard (ok, it’s just me- I want to get back over there to see it in the day light!) I thought I’d share a print I finished last week for my class at pasadena city college. I’m taking a screen printing class. You never know when or where you can learn new things. It’s been a while since I was in school so I figured it might be fun. I’ve re-learned a bunch of things I’d forgotten about and gotten a bunch of helpful tips and what not.

This week i’m finishing up little last minute details for the Beverly Hills Affaire in the Gardens show this weekend.

The Beverly Hills Art Show, Affaire in the Gardens
Saturday and Sunday, October 17th and 18th, 2009, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Beverly Gardens Park along Santa Monica Boulevard, from Rodeo to Rexford Drive –
9400 Santa Monica Boulevard, Beverly Hills, CA 90210
Web site:

The Beverly Hills Art Show, Affaire In The Gardens, which features 250 fine artists from around the country, returns to Beverly Gardens Park on October 17th and 18th. Four historic garden blocks, from Rodeo to Rexford Drive, will be filled with 250 artists and their original art, from twenty-foot tall metal sculptures to minuscule ceramic perfume bottles to some of the most esteemed yet affordable painting found in an outdoor show, personally represented by the artists. In addition, this free, drop-in event always includes an outdoor dining quarter, a wine garden, live jazz, classical and contemporary music, many art demonstrations, and craft-making for children. A number of local area restaurants provide the food concessions featuring fine cuisine and Angel City Microbrewery will provide their local brews.

I was also asked last week if I would donate something to the Silverlake Conservatory of Music’s Annual fundraiser at the end of October. I don’t typically donate things but I think the Silverlake Conservatory of Music is pretty awesome and they do good things to bring the Arts to kids. I sent them an awesome framed print that a few of my friends own- one of the very last few left of The Deer Bunnies. If you’re looking for something to do Halloween night you should check out their event at the Historic Union Station in downtown Los Angeles. They’ll be auctioning off some great art and music memorabilia and great live music.

Any idea how much tickets for the conservatory fundraiser are going to be? I poked around their website but couldn’t find any specifics about ticket prices and it doesn’t look like they’re for sale online at all.
