Making: Studio details

This past weekend I got out the power washer and got to work striking and cleaning screens. I have pretty large screens as I tend to tile images on them for multiple prints. I can get 8, 8 1/2 by 11 transparencies on each one, or any other combination of larger imagery. I had three big ones to clean and two smaller ones that I use for back grounds and what not. I power washed to my hearts content…or at least until I had a slight case of sun stroke from being in the blaring sun and I called it, clean enough.

I’ve had these screens since 2002 and they have lasted quite well.  They are from a company in Oregon which appears to no longer be in business, Irish Graphics. Now they are all ready to be re-coated and exposed with new images!

Wow – great screen cleaning! Maybe when I get a house and a power washer, I’ll be able to go back to screen printing. Great jacket, too!
